Accelerated Learning
The School will successfully implement the College Board curriculum with fidelity and ensure that all stakeholders, specifically historically marginalized students will have the opportunity to participate in course work that will prepare them to successfully register and graduate from college.
Information Technology
The school recognizes as globalization rapidly progresses, attaining a high level of proficiency regarding computer literacy is vital for our students to compete. For our targeted student’s technology is already woven into the fabric of their daily lives. The school will go beyond basic computer skills and focus on essential applications that should be mastered as they prepare to enter college or the workforce.
Financial Literacy
We must recognize that miseducation is the backbone of dysfunction and subordination. Our children should be taught good credit, generational wealth, tax preparation, entrepreneurship, Real Estate management, debt management, leadership, and mental health.
Humanities
The school will offer a course that will explore the fine and performing arts to develop a well-rounded student. The curriculum will enable students to connect with the human experience from the past and the present. This connection will provide a deeper understanding of the world as they mature in a global society. Humanities will inspire students to think “outside of the box” as they deal with complex interactions.
Physical Education
Being physically active benefits students emotionally and physically. As students develop their bodies positive outcomes follow not only physically but some of these responses affect behavior as well. Regular exercise is linked to an increase in self-assurance, confidence, resiliency, and a boost in energy. The rise in energy provides increased study time windows, opportunities to participate in extracurricular activities, and decreases the probability of absences from school. This course establishes a foundation for living a healthy lifestyle. Students learn to develop routines as they enter the workforce or college that will benefit them immensely in the long run.
Virtual Acceleration
The school will offer choices through FLVS; per Florida state statute this course is a graduation requirement. Taking a virtual school course exposes a student to a platform that has become prevalent at almost every institution of higher learning. In addition, it teaches students the importance of time management as they work towards specific deadlines at their own pace.
Critical Thinking
The school will place an emphasis on “soft skills”, teaching students to think and make connections between contrasting outlooks to assess information analytically. Skills such as time management, interpersonal interactions, logical decision-making, leadership, and fluent communication skills (verbal and written) are non-negotiable as learners navigate the modern world.
